Two Key Endorsements: CA. Democratic Party and California League of Conservation Voters
Ventura, CA—Tim Allison’s candidacy for the 24th congressional district was endorsed by the California League of Conservation Voters, one of the state’s largest environmental organizations and the California Democratic Party.
“For every election, we carefully review each candidate’s record, and interview and survey them on the most important environmental issues,” said David Allgood, Southern California Director of the California League of Conservation Voters. “For the 24th Congressional District, Tim Allison’s impressive record in collaboration and action to clean up pollution and preserve the environment spoke the loudest of any candidate. He has our whole-hearted support.”
“I’m running for office because I want to make people’s lives better,” said Allison. “We live in an area that can be a leader in the state and nation on clean, green jobs that would reduce our dependence on fossil fuels and strengthen our economy. I can think of no greater honor during Earth Day week to receive the endorsement from both the CA League of Conservation Voters and the Sierra Club. Further, I’m proud to have the official backing of the Democratic Party in the Congressional primary election this June.”
The endorsement from the California Democratic Party makes Allison the endorsed Democratic candidate for the 24th Congressional District on June 8. Previously, Allison had received an unusually high 89% of the vote from delegates to the State Party Convention.
The California League of Conservation Voters is the political arm of the state environmental movement and is the oldest and largest political action committee for the environment in California. Every year, the CLCV releases the California Environmental Scorecard, which rates the performance of California elected officials on environmental issues, conducts research on candidates running for local, statewide, and federal office, and campaign for stronger environmental laws. On the most recent League of Conservation Voter’s Scorecard, incumbent Elton Gallegly scored a dismal 7% approval rating. Last week, the Allison campaign announced the endorsement of the National Sierra Club, the nation’s oldest environmental organization.
The 24th Congressional District includes several environmental sensitive areas, including the Los Padres National Forest, Channel Islands National Park, and the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. It also includes the communities of Thousand Oaks, Camarillo, Simi Valley, Moorpark, Ventura, Fillmore, Santa Paula, Ojai, the Santa Ynez valley and Lompoc.
Tim Allison has also received endorsements from the California Teachers Association, Congresswoman Lois Capps, the California Labor Federation, the Tri-Counties Central Labor Council, and hundreds of other individuals and organizations.
